Curriculum vitae
Here are some cornerstones of my personal history:

12. Oct. 1974 born in Würzburg, Germany; son of Manfred Metzler (professor
of toxicology) and Doris Metzler (retired teacher).
- 1980 - 1984 Elementary school in Würzburg.
- 1984 - 1993 Friedrich-Koenig-Gymnasium
- high school, Würzburg. Favorite subjects: English, math and
physics.
Hobbies: role playing games, computer games, progressive rock,
writing for the students' magazine, playing keyboards, and volleyball.
- 1993 - 2002, with short breaks: studied physics at the
University of Würzburg.
Some steps along the way:
- 1995 Vordiplom - pre-diploma.
- 1996-1997 studied in Austin, TX. Did a Master's Thesis on fluidized beds. Very interesting experience, highly recommended.
- 1998 diploma exams
- 1998-1999 diploma thesis on interacting neural networks.
- 1999 - 2002 dissertation on neural networks, time series, and game theory.
- 2003 postdoc at the NECSI and
MIT in Cambridge, MA.
