Daniel Rothman is Professor of Geophysics in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at MIT.
Professor Rothman is interested in the role that nonlinearity and disorder play in complex natural systems. His focus is the creation of theoretical and computational models of complex physical, geophysical, and biological systems using the tools of statistical physics. Current projects include studies of river networks, the statistical structure of topography, and fluid membranes.
